Any regular readers of this blog may notice that we have written more than once about Tanzania. The reason for this, apart from its natural beauty and well-earned reputation as a safari haven is that it is where I call home. I come from a city not too far from the shadow of Kilimanjaro and every time I return, I can appreciate it a little more.
Tanzania is also one of our best-selling destinations with world famous locations such as the Serengeti, Ngorongoro Crater and Zanzibar acting as the bedrock of some incredible holidays.
At a glance the stats are impressive: largest island national park in Africa, hundreds of endemic species and wildlife viewing to match anywhere else all make for a pretty picture. But we don’t just build our holidays on stats do we? It’s all about the feel of the place and Rubondo Island has it in spades; real hairs on the back of your neck experiences amid the forests and nature blooming at her finest.
The main highlight of the island is the opportunity to hang with the chimpanzee troops that roam the forests but Rubondo has an ace up its sleeve here. Unlike other destinations there is no one hour limit to staying with the chimps. This is a habituation experience so you can stay as long as you like (or, if they are on the move, then as long as you can keep up). Also your party is limited to 4 people, so you are guaranteed a personal experience to remember forever.
The forests are also home to hundreds of bird species, elephants and antelope while in the swamps you can find hippos and crocodiles. How adventurous are you going to be? Will you stick to the vehicle trails or arrange a personalised walking tour? We always recommend taking the path less trodden, but might reconsider if there are crocs involved…
You can also take to the water in a boat from the camp; either to see the wildlife, head out fishing or make your way to a nearby island and meet the neighbouring villages and communities! All before heading back to the only camp on the island for an exclusive evening soirée under the stars.
So contact us today for the chance to save between £1500 and £2500 on a four day luxury safari including a stay at the Rubondo Island Safari Camp.
