Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park

Gorilla in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park

There are many reasons that visitors are tempted to come to Uganda each year. However the star attraction dwells within the aptly named Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. Standing at 1,400 metres above sea level and consisting of thick vegetation, Bwindi is the perfect environment for the highly endangered Mountain Gorilla. There are only about 800 of these magnificent creatures left in the wild and the largest concentration resides within Bwindi and the connecting forests. There are strict limits on trekking which makes time spent with these gentle giants all the more special as you will not have too much competition to get the perfect view. Tracking them is not always easy and expert guides will be on hand to assist you and ensure you don’t get lost.

Elsewhere in the Park there is the possibility to view a diverse range of birds, reptiles and over 120 mammalian species, including 8 different primates. With comfortable lodges on site and varied dramatic vistas to enjoy, it is unsurprising that Bwindi is the location of choice in Uganda.
