The best time to head out in a mokoro is between July and October, when water levels are high and the skies are almost permanently blue. It may seem bizarre but the delta is at its wettest during the height of Botswana's dry weather season. This is because the floodwaters originate more than a thousand kilometres away in the highlands of Angola.
