Discover two of the many fascinating aspects of Tunisia: the treasures of history and the Arab cultural heritage.

Dive headfirst into the atmosphere of the medina, the old town that many consider the most beautiful and best preserved of North Africa, made a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1979. After a look at the Great Mosque, topped by an imposing minaret, you sink in the souks ("markets" in Arabic). With their narrow streets full of artisan’s stalls and shops of all kinds, Tunis souks represent not only a place to shop, but also a meeting point for the local population.

Your guide will accompany you through the intoxicating fragrances of the perfume souk, among the colours of the wool souk. Soak up the sights sounds and smells within the storese, where you can admire the famous and traditional Tunisian carpets

After lunch your first stop will be the archaeological site of Carthage which for centuries was was the main port in the Mediterranean until in 146 BC, when the Romans, destroyed it. 

From there travel to Sidi Bousaid, this former town which was once devoted to religion. In 1207, a mystic named Abu Said Khalafa ben Yahia settled there to develop Sufism. Death made him the Town's Patron Saint and the hill of Sidi Bou Said became a center of spirituality.

Depart Tunis and make your way to the ancient Roman settlements of Oudhna and the archaeological site of Dougga: the most prestigious of Tunisia. Dougga is an ancient Roman city located in the countryside overlooking the fertile valley of the Mejerdah. Among the olive trees the site has been very well preserved. Accompanied by a site guide, explore the rich history of its monuments: theater, capitol, Lybico-Punic mausoleum, temple of Caelestis, and home of the Trifolium

Enjoy a traditional lunch in a cottage in Téboursouk before transfering to Kairouan for a chance to explore solo, or rest before a local dinner and an overnight stay.

Following an early breakfast, spend the morning visiting the Grand Mosque Okba Ibn Nafaa and the Aghlabid pool. See how over a thousand years of Islamic heritage is woven into the fabric of Tunisia, emenating from this incredible religous monument. Afterwards, you may be interested in a visit to a carpet-making workshop where you can observe, admire, and learn about this artisanal craft. There is an ancient medina with winding streets and hidden treasures, which provides a perfect place to have lunch. When you have completed your visits, travel south via Sbeitla to the palm grove and Sahara region of Tozeur. Check into your accommodation before exploring one of the largest date producing regions in Africa. Indulge your sweet tooth before dinner and your overnight stay.

After an early morning start, drive to the beautiful mountain side oasis village of Chebika. Chebika was once a Roman outpost, but later became a mountain refuge for the Berber people. Lac up your boots and hike through the Chebika canyon to the source of the mountain oasis. From there, travel to Tamerza which is the largest mountain oasis in Tunisia before heading to Mides where you will have a stunning panoramic view of the canyon below. The canyon was used for the filming of Raiders of the Lost Ark and The English Patient. Enjoy a well earned break upon your return to Tozeur for lunch.

In the afternoon, explore the oasis and the old town of Tozeur before dinner and your overnight stay

In the morning enjoy free time to relax in the oasis or visit the surrounding dunes area by camel or quad bike.

After lunch depart to Tataouine where you can visit the surrounding Berber villages with their Ghorfas and Ksours before settling into your hotel for the night.

Depart via Medenine to Djerba island using the ferry crossing or the roman causeway at low tide. Enjoy a short tour of the island and visit the museum, the potters’ village Guellala and the centre of the main town Houmt souk.

Head back to the mainland and travel to Sousse via Gabes and Sfax. Make a stop at El Jem to visit the roman colosseum and the surrounding areas in this unique archaeological opportunity.
