Welcome to Tanzania! The land of the Great Migration, the tallest mountain in Africa and some of the world’s greatest safari will be home for the next ten days. Arrive into Kilimanjaro International Airport, and we will be there to welcome to you to Tanzania. Outside the airport we will meet with our safari guide and on the drive into Arusha we will get our first view of the country and the adventures ahead. After a long journey we will settle into our base in Arumeru lodge for an evening meal and our overnight stay

Have you been on safari before? Today we start bright and early with a visit to Tarangire National Park. The park is known for its huge herds of elephants that call the park home, crossing the river as they enjoy the African sunshine. Entering into Tarangire will give us our first opportunity to enjoy the wonders of safari before we head to our luxury camp for dinner. After dinner we will gather by the campfire to enjoy the sounds of the wilderness under the stars.

If we get up early enough we will still have time to enjoy a morning game drive in Tarangire before driving to Bashay to check in and have lunch. Then we will head out in the afternoon for a tour of a Ngila Coffee Estate to sample the rich history of life in Tanzania before a trip back to the lodge for the evening.

After breakfast we will depart to visit the Ngorongoro Crater. The Great Rift Valley that runs the length of East Africa has created a wonder of nature in this caldera and we will spend the day exploring the true spirit of Africa. No fences, no gates, just the natural barriers of the crater creating a home for 10,000 animals. From the comfort of our 4x4 vehicle we will have an unparalleled opportunity to spot the hundreds of species that are permanent residents of the crater.

We will enjoy a picnic lunch in the heart of this ancient volcano while watching the hippos before leaving the crater floor for a drive to Olduvai in the afternoon. Olduvai is the site of the world’s oldest known human fossil and it is here in this place of history and culture where we will meet with a Maasai tribe and don our comfortable shoes for a walk to the kopje to experience the sunset before heading to camp for our overnight stay

A highlight for any trip. after breakfast we will be driving to the Serengeti; unequalled for its natural beauty and boasting the greatest concentration of plains game in Africa. Protected for the last 70 years, the Serengeti ecosystem is one of the oldest on earth. The essential features of climate, vegetation and fauna have barely changed in the past million years.

It is time to say good bye to safari and hello to the Indian Ocean. After a breakfast in the wilderness, we will transfer to an airstrip in the Serengeti for a flight to Zanzibar. Upon arrival at Zanzibar airport, we will be picked up and taken to a charming hotel in Stone Town to freshen up before enjoying the Indian Ocean breeze as the sun sets.

We will wake up to the sights and sounds of the old town of Zanzibar. After breakfast we will take on a tour, visiting the historical sites and exploring the narrow streets of Stone Town. We will make the most of our guided tour to get some shopping in along with our cultural visit and then visit the spice farms that give Zanzibar its moniker of the “Spice Island”.

With all our senses sated, we will board our transfer across the island to our beach-front spa and retreat before enjoying 3 nights at the luxurious Gold as the Indian Ocean caresses the shoreline. Our mornings will offer excursions to explore this beautiful and historic island while the afternoons can be spent at leisure, reflecting on our journey together.

Tour to Nungwi Beach and Mnararni Marine Turtle Conservation Pond – If you have not yet had your fill of wildlife, there are some incredible conservation efforts being carried out in Zanzibar. Just along the shore from the gorgeous Nungwi Beach, the Mnararni Conservation team are ready to welcome us to see the efforts being made to protect turtles in the Indian Ocean.                                   £60 per person

The “Togoro plains” are in the northern part of the Serengeti, halfway between Seronera and Lobo.

This area is great for wildlife all year due to it having permanent water holes.

The Serengeti NP has classed the region as a “rhino sanctuary” because a few black rhinos have settled there.
