Upon arrival at Kigali International Airport, you will be welcomed outside customs and the immigration hall and transferred to your hotel where you can rest and prepare for your upcoming adventure.

After your early morning breakfast you’ll head out on your city tour of Kigali, the capital of Rwanda. Your guide will drive you around the quickly developing city including the memorial to the genocide of 1994. You will have the opportunity to witness the old Kigali blend seamlessly into the new developments which spring up around them. Kimironko Market will provide you with the chance to immerse yourself in the local culture with locals and visitors mingling in this cosmopolitan city. 

Check out of your hotel and begin your drive to Ruhengeri. Ruhengeri is the capital of Musanze District in the Northern Province of Rwanda. On arrival you will transfer to the Rwanda development board Volcanoes National Park headquarters for a golden monkey trekking briefing. There are two habituated groups of Golden Monkey, one group comprises around 80 – 100 members and has its home at the foot of Mt Sabyinyo. As with treks to see the Mountain Gorillas, treks to see the Golden Monkeys take place in the mornings and visitors are permitted to stay for 1 hour with the monkeys.

After the hike you will transfer to Mountain Gorilla View lodge for lunch. Later you will transfer to Gisenyi. On arrival, check in to your hotel, have dinner next to the lake and settle in for the night.

Today your day begins with an early drive to the Volcanoes National Park offices for a Gorilla Trek that starts at 8:00 am. Volcanoes National Park protects the steep slopes of this magnificent mountain range and is the home of the rare mountain gorilla and the rich mosaic of montane ecosystems, which embrace evergreen and bamboo forest, open grassland, swamp and heath, but the high point will be spending an hour with the remarkably peaceful gorillas despite their size and appearance as they go about their daily life, feeding, playing, resting and raising their young.

After breakfast, transfer to Akagera National park and start a morning game drive alongside the Lake Ihema circuit which is known as one of the most scenic savannahs in East Africa. Later this afternoon you will check in at Akagera game lodge and have a hot lunch. After settling in, you will proceed to meet you boat captain who will take you on a sunset boat cruise.

This morning after breakfast start a game drive from the south heading to the northern gate. The game drive in Akagera provides you with the opportunity to view gentle hills blending beautifully with lowland swamps and water bodies. You will visit the Giraffe area in the south and the lakes road up towards Birengero. Depending on the time of game drive you will be able to view most of the game in different parts of the park. Exit the park through the northern gate and drive back to Kigali.

After breakfast, visit Kimironko market, one of the largest local markets in Kigali, where you will meet our local vegetable vendors and behold the succulent fruit and vegetables and try out your bargaining power at food shopping in Kigali. Then you will conclude the city tour with a visit to “Gahaya Gifted Hands”, a place where art and design have empowered over 4,000 women through weaving and jewellery making for international shops. The rest of the day will be at your leisure till your departure to the airport for your flight home. A late check out will be organised.
